"Anneliese, this is beautiful. Each section has so much to look at, and it would seem you like to use up whatever you have on hand. Not a dust catcher, though! It looks lovely on your mantelpiece. Such lovely colours!"
Every piece of textile is interesting for me and I have to touch it.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
I started attending workshops. Real fun. I learned a lot from German teachers. Later on from German teachers who were living in the USA. Mostly American quilting books are my source of inspiration. American Magazines about sewing, stitching and quilting are another wonderful source
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
I love everything made by hand or sewing machine, stitching- free quilting is my favorite - dyeing fabrics - playing with coloured fabrics - often very bright - using all sorts of material for embellishment
Anneliese, please don't worry about the "e" , I'm used to it. I'm glad you liked the hint about marking with a soap sliver. I wouldn't use it on the right side of expensive fabric, unless it's washable, but for what I was doing it's perfect for marking, and I've marked the wrong side of wool and washable silk with it with no problems.
Hi Anneliese, thanks for accepting my friend request! The needlelace that I do isn't tatting. I do Elizabethan style needle lace, over felt padding, usually. The image of the Bride's bag, that is on my profile page, has got some needllace flowers on it - the rose, foxgloves and bluebells were made using the technique.
Hi Annelaise, have just typed an epistle to you and lost it so will start again. That was an error, postage was $42.89c. The lady I tracked down in England was very helpful, www.roseground.com. bought 2 fine needles £3 each, 3 for wool etc £11.75 think it is easier to work with thicker thread, then decided I needed the book learn needle tatting step by tept by Barbara Foster £9.95, rang the lady to place the order, do not like doing it over the internet unless it is amazon and now waiting for the goodies to arrive. Email address for her is email@example.com hope you find this helpful and thankyou for helping me, have aslo joined your blog but for some reason I show up as a bag not my photo, that is what is on my blog but do not know how to change it.
