Is it just me, or is anyone else getting Error 500 messages and it's taking ages to add a comment or go back a page?  I just de-fragged my hard drive and everything else is working well.Continue

Profile Information

What textiles are you interested in?
I love all textiles, especially embroidered, beaded and embellished in any way. I also love knitted fabrics. I love making my own clothing and use high quality fabrics.
I make small art quilts, so contemporary quilting appeals very much to me.
Where did you learn your textile skills?
I learned to knit at school (in the UK) when I was 6, knitting squares for blankets for refugees. I took a year of embroidery classes at high school because I had to. Since then I am self-taught. I have learned so many skills via the internet.
Is there anything else you'd like other members of Stitchin' Fingers to know about you? Please feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself by way of introduction.
I love to smock, both traditional English smocking and contemporary smocking. Embroidery has always played a huge part in my spare time and now I'm retired I want to learn as much more as possible. I have done so many different types of embroidery from crewel work to Tenerrife lace, but my favourite is surface embroidery. Alas there is no embroidery group (Embr. Guild, e.g.,) that I have found anywhere within 100 miles of where I live. My daughter and I are planning a tour in India next year to learn about their embroidery techniques. I'm currently learning some of the techniques used in India.

I belong to a knitting group in my town and it's a wonderful source of female companionship as well as swapping ideas and knowledge, and I love it.

Dear Ann

Wishing you a lovely weekend wandering in your spring garden. So glad to hear the home renovations are coming to an end. Now you'll have to begin another project (just joking!)

Warmest regards

Catherine

Thanks for your comments on my work. Been feeling the need to break out of the kits, and charts of cross stitch and just' letting it fly.' When I see all the beautiful examples on this site-feel like I've come home.:-)
