Creative use of stitches. I have done many types of hand embroidery. These are the ones I enjoy and continue to do.

- Graduate of Royal School of Needlework.
Stitched all my life except when employed as an Occupational Therapist and Rehab Therapist.

Grace Lister said… Anne, thank you for the comment on my Sea Scene. I do so agree with you that most designs are becoming far too busy. I had a friend who did the most incredible landscapes but spoiled them by crowding. She used to say do you think that is fine and I would say yes, but don't add any more and then she would add more and more to it until it was completely spoilt. It was such a shame. Grace

Bernadette said… Thanks for the advise and the encouragement. I will need to put the piece away for awhile. Right now I only see it with a critical eye in the areas I need work on. Funny how you lose perspective when you are up too close for such a long time. I hope to learn more about threads and fabrics in this wonderful world of yours. Funny I still feel intrusive, not from anyone because this is such a warm encouraging environment to learn and grow from. I think it is being in the company of such distinguished masters of this medium and "breaking bread" with them. I know in a classroom I would be too shy or intimidated to approach others and would never bring my piece to their table and ask for help or a critique. This is what makes this community such a wonderful opportunity.

Wanted to thank you for the technique you posted on doing a satin stitch with padding. I am working with it while doing an Iris kit by Tanja Berlin. This project is above my abilities at this time, but I am forging ahead. Your lovely website is very encouraging. Thank you Bernadette

Connie Kusevskis said… Thank for the nice comment about my work. You can take you embroidery scissors on the plane as long as the blades are less than 4 inches, I was in Denmark in October and had no problem, I stitched all the way. You can also check with the TSA, it is in their rules

The car is very jiggly to stitch in, and I don't stitch quite as fast, but I have a hard sitting doing nothing for hours, so when my husband drives I have to do something.
