Comment by Devon Melanie Dougall on January 12, 2013 at 20:00 The bird really catches your eye, but the twigs just glow with realism as well! Lovely.

Comment by Elza Bester on January 6, 2013 at 15:14 Thank you Mary. Well I have finished my Lilac Breasted Roller now and it is nice to know you still think of me :) The colours on the photo is not quite as vibrant as on the actual embroidered piece itself.

Comment by Sally Papin on December 31, 2012 at 10:32 I am just beginning to learn some of the ways to embroider with accents of ribbon and stumpwork. I am totally fascinated. I have some photos and art of my own that I can see using in the future after visiting Roby's website. Lovely inspiration there. What size of background do you work on? I have a new hoop that is 16 inches which I hope will work out. My arthritis gives me fits, so it will be interesting to see how it works for me. One more question, is how you transfer your image onto your cloth. Do you have a special book you might recommend for beginners - although I am not really a beginner <G>. Thank you for sharing such beautiful work.
Comment by Elza Bester on December 31, 2012 at 9:47 Sally this in not the only painting I did of Roby. I will put a few more in the weeks to come. Roby's work is absolutely ideal for embroidery. I visited her twice already, the last time Oct/Nov of 2012. :)
