I agree, its a very bold design.  Its as faithful a reproduction as I could make it, with what I knew back then.  The original appears as part of a pair on a Gentleman's Informal Cap that incorporates a lot of find gold & silver thread.  The original is not filled with pink tho', but instead a kind of salmon/carnation type colour that is a bit difficult to find.

I think what attracted me to this design most, apart from it being a fast way to work, was notice how the 3 silver chain rows always lead off from one, larger, starting chain...
