The Robert Scruggs Cabin, Cowpens Revolutionary Battlefields

The Robert Scruggs Cabin, Cowpens Revolutionary Battlefields

The restored cabin of the Robert Scruggs family who lived there after the Revolutionary War. It is situated in the Cowpens National Battlefield where a crucial victory was one in the campaign for America's liberty. Scruggs operated a general store, post office and farmed on his homestead.

Thank you all.  Sharon, this cabin was actually built 50 years after the famous battle at the Cowpens Battlegrounds but was included in the national park to show homesteads of that period.  I will post another photo of a plantation home from the same era I depicted in this collection, Walnut Grove Plantation. We are fortunate that some of these historic homes have been preserved, restored and are made available for people to view.  I am learning the protocol and have found I can add a few photos per day.  I am so glad to have found you all! Such a wonderful, sharing site!!

Lovely work - to be honest I don't know American history that well to be able to identify a famous cabin but Australia does have cabins just like that built by our early settlers so in a way it was recognisable.
