pieced, embellished quilt, approx. 3' x 5.5'
I first spied the inspiration for this quilt - "Don't Let the LIttle Things Bug You" - in Mary Lou Weidman's wooonderful book, "Whimsies & Whynots", maybe a dozen years ago now. I...looooved it at first sight!! I quickly made 3 quilts along the same lines: one for my son and one for each of two of my nephews. All 3 were 14-ish,15-ish ,16-ish or so back then - and/or...super "teensbugged" most of the time!! Eeek!! I thought these quilts - esp. their message - ie. "Don't Let the Little Things Bug You" - all done up in a light-hearted and whimsical fashion - were perfect for these kids back then.
I had a look at my son's quilt the other week and was...stunned by how UNembellished it was!! Everything on the quilt was made of...fabric only!! Eeek!! I obviously knew zip about embellishing a dozen years ago!!Whatever, I decided to take this quilt and fiiiiiinally embellish it properly!!
Things I used for these new embellishments incl: birthday candles, crayons, measuring tape, beads, beads, beads (!!), buttons, sequins, toothpicks, bits of old jewellery, twigs, ribbons, trims, tiny clothes pegs, etc.,etc.
