Oh, there are much simpler versions, Kirsten! One way is to just make a snowflake that fits over the top of the glass ball...like a round collar and tie a christmas bow around the neck of the ball through the tatting. Another way that is so much simpler and still very pretty is pinning the tatted snowflakes to a styrofoam ball! It can look very pretty! I would be wanting to use some special pretty sort of pin, though!

It makes absolutely sense! Thanks for explaining it.
Sounds fiddly though, to finish the last steps. Plus the size of ball and tatting must fit perfectly.
Maybe one day I will try this. For this year I made some simpler versions.

Hi Kirsten, thank you! To answer your question I tatted most of the second snowflake together off the ball, joining the points to the first snowflake as needed. Then when It seemed evident the "hole" to stuff the ball in was going to get too small to fit the ball through I stuff the ball in right at that time and finished the last "arm" or "point" of the second snowflake with the ball inside the two snowflakes. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you, Jennie! I appreciate all of your sweet comments!

It's lovely! I like the soft color of the balls.
Most tatted ornaments I have seen had the tatting laced around the ball. Did you tat this second part directly around the ball?
