.I spent a long time perusing rockpools so that I could get the overall feel of the embroidery right. There are little colonies of sea animals and plants tucked into sheltered spots of high on the 'rocks' of this little embroidered pool.
The little barnacles and picot seaweed leaves were created from a range of cotton threads of different gauges, including some I hand-dyed. The barnacles were embroidered using cup stitch, and some have tiny pearls or other beads trapped inside just as real barnacles collect the detritus from the seabed.
The needle woven picot leaves are interspersed with metallic threads, sed beads, French knots and tiny pearl beads.
