Hi Carol Anne. Thank you. I actually took the class on the first go round. I learned a lot from Margaret and highly recommend the class! I definitely benefit from having a teacher critic my work and provide me direction in stitch placement for the shading. I also framed up Mary Corbett's long and short stitch shading tutorial. I did something wrong though, so I am going to switch from the muslin to linen. The fabric is tearing in the upper left corner of the first item (the square). It's a bummer, but it will look so much better on linen anyway.

Katherine, why not do Trish Burr's on-line course.  That will give you the skill and confidence to do more.  Tanja Berlin also does a very good on-line course for absolute beginners wanting to learn thread painting techniques.

my dream is to have enough skill and confidence to do one of Trish Burrs birds. Your robin is lovely and the leaves look real. Your stitching is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your work which inspires to me to keep on learning..
