This is one of my favourite blocks on your quilt Di, probably because I know the place so well, and we were there together.

Thank you Ruth. They were lovely times when the children were little. It is a beautiful part of the world, a little isolated, which is why we left. It was great fun stitching my memories into this block.

Thank you Elizabeth and Svetlana for your lovely comments. It is so much fun dreaming up motifs and stitches to do to represent different memories. I think this is why it has taken almost 5 years to complete the blocks. Each block requires so much thought.:-)

Oh, forgot, also feather stitch.

Ok have had a sleep...some of the stitches were ribbon stitch, fly stitch, wrapped bullions Pistil stitch turkey stitch, besides the knots, stem stitch, chain, that you had already worked. This block reminds me of all the fun we had at Rainbow.....remember Childers? and all the bus trips...they were good times.

We lived at Rainbow Beach for several years when the children were little. Rainbow Beach gets it's name from the coloured sand cliffs surrounding the beach. A very beautiful sight which attracts many tourists. The aboriginal dreamtime story attributes the colour to the mythical creature 'the rainbow serpent'. The tree in the centre of the block grows prolifically in the area - the casuarina tree. The lighthouse stands at Double Island Point.
