Pocket for the Mango Bride

An embroidery on Irish linen based on a concept by Lee Westfield. This little bag features pulled threadwork, metallic threads, bullion roses, picot leaves, tiny sequins and faux pearls. It is lined with my orange wedding dress fabric - thus the 'Mango Bride' of the title.

Thank you for your lovely comments, Ann. I am actually missing this little bag at the moment. I have loaned it to a friend to copy, and it is a bit like having a friend move away!

The 'Mango Bride' is very talented.  This bag is extravagant and delicate at the same time.  Your stitching is wonderful.

Thank you, Shirley. The two do seem to go well together. I think that the pulled threadwork provides a solid geometric structure on which to place the more playful, abstract rose and metallic thread design. I was surprised at how well the two ideas played out.

I love this little bag Meg, and the way you have combined the traditional counted thread work with the modern rose design
