I work on them in the evening in front of the TV. I purchased the complete inventory of a store going out of the thread business. I purchased over 1200 skeins of assorted colors for $100.00 all DMC before they changed there product.
This is your first attempt ever and all the other pieces were FREEHAND ???!!! I'm jawdropped on that one ! And on an 18 ct, top of it all. I just can't believe my eyes. Ever considered of making a living out of your amazing skill ? In France they have some specialized professional workshops for restauring old or historical canvas work and I guess there's a school for Aubusson too. Your work is really breathtaking Larry, thank you so much for sharing it.
That was my first ever attempt at needlepoint. I took a flower picture & blew it up then cut it in to wedges then reassembled it. I then had it printed on to 18ct needlepoint canvas. That is the one & only creations I have done from a print. All my projects have been on 18 ct. canvas and sall have been freehand( no print).
OMG what SIZE is this ??? And how on earth did you manage to design such a pattern ? Did you paint it directly on the canvas or is it counted stitch (and if it is how many YEARS did it take to finish this piece ???) I've seen a lot of so called 'artists' using old canvas work to glue on polymer forms - canvas they of course never ever were able to stitch themselves. The only achievement in 'modernizing canvas work' being to have bought several pieces at flee markets and pretending they were the true artists just because they could splash glue on ready made forms.
But your work on the contrary is just amazing : please show some more ;)
