thank u so much..........
warli painting is a tribal art in India .geometric images of human beings & animals are created in a rhythmic pattern. The themes chosen by the artists are mainly from nature. Harvest is one of their major themes. One other very popular theme is that of a wedding festival. The subjects found in these paintings are fields swaying with healthy crops, birds flying in the sky, group dancing around a person playing the music, dancing peacocks, women cooking or busy in their other house chores and children playing. Warli art always contains groups of people.
this art form is a way of communication among people.painted on mud/charcoal surfacewith rice paste [for white colour].
For the Warlis, life is cyclic repeating it eternally. Circles best represent the art of warli, which has neither an end nor a beginning. Death is not the end for them; rather it is a new beginning. Similar to their religious beliefs the warli paintings carry this circular and spiral movement that gives an everlasting joy
i like those designs & tried hand embroidery with back stitch.
It kind of looks like DNA in stitch so life journey is what it could resemble. So interesting. Great stitching Hugs Elaine
can you tell us more about this design? It looks to me a bit like one of those spiral patterns that represent a life journey. I am curious.
