Grape Harvest

My latest large crewel piece. Approx 40cm square. So nice to finally finish it.

Hi Faith, no the fabric is not stabilised. The embroidery is worked on linen twill which is quite heavy and firm so it supports the stitches really well. I work with the fabric mounted into a slate frame so that I don't get any nasty hoop marks. Once it is finished, I block it onto board, wet it and leave to dry flat.

Gorgeous! did you use a stabiliser at the back to help with a firm surface to embroider?
