Adorable! This looks like a fun place to live. Love the mixed mediums.

Hi Kate, I use Thin Acrlyic or fabric paint. My therory is Whenyou get Acrylic on your clothing as when I was teaching kids to paint, it is permanent. I do set each section as i paint with a hot iron to stop bleeding into the other colours but if you just want a soft blended background you wet your calico ( which is my choice of material) first. I shared my way of doing paint and stitch with an art friend years ago. She choose water colour paint on silk as she was awatercolour artist but unfortunately some of her work is fading. Water colour pigment is a powder an sits on the top of the fibres . Were as acrylic or fabric paint goes into the fibres as a dye. It can be an exciting experience painting fabric then stitching on the top for texture. I say I paint to add colour only and not doing a painting on the calico then add the stitching for texture.

Hit the "View Full Size", and see it is actually smaller. Beautiful. May I ask what kind of paint you use?

That's beautiful, I wish I could see it in person!
To try the combination of painting and stitching is definately on my to-do list.
