Sandy was in touch with Avril last year as I wanted to get her peacock and fish designs but she said she didn't have them and is not teaching at the moment.  she gave me permission to get them from anyone who had them so would you have come across them when you were doing her classes?  She was working on a book when her parents got ill but even that has had to be put aside.  Thanks Sandra

Thank you Barbara.  A man seeing it at a craft show asked me why I would do a cockroach.

Sandy I too have done the flying fish. Avril's parents were both quite ill last year so she hasn't been even travelling to Newcastle and the classes in Sydney are a lot more expensive so I haven't been able to either. I will download my flying fish onto my page and you can see the difference between the two. sandra

Hi Sandra

I did classes with Avril in Brisbane. She did a number of classes at Threads & More when they were in Bardon. I worked there and co-ordinated the classes so I was lucky to be able to attend as many classes as I could fit in. I did her Flying Fish and Pomergranate, as well as a program throughout the year which covered Design, Beyond Counted Thread Gplwork sampler and I think Creel work although the crewel may have been a separate class.

I left Threads & More to worknbat another store in Brisbane. T&M started to concentrate more on the knitting yarn side of the business and as I recall Avril was at that time doing less travel to concentrate on her family and other of her interests. I would love to do another class with her.

Thanks Sandy, I miss not having an Avril class this year. She has such unusual designs. I have done chenille work, japanese laid work, and many more. Which class did you do and where did you do it? I have done some in Newcastle and others in Sydney at the Guild. Actually this technique was one Avril has us do when we first started classes with her and know I use it all the time. I love your ghecko. I also have done a ghecko in gold but as it was one of my first it was on black felt and only enhanced with the gold instead of being encrusted with the gold. Sandra

Hi Sandra
I love this and "Fays Cicada.

I initially learnt from Avril and really love her work and designs.

I have restarted my circular piece. I have used your suggestion of tracing the design on the back and stitching through. So far so good.

Thanks Zandra this is a mixture of stumpwork and gold work and they work well together. Not hard so if you have a chance to do a class give it a go. Practice your long and short stitch first and yuo wil be pleased with the results. Sandra

Really cool - I have always wanted to do some stumpwork bugs (other than the lady bug) and have never got a "round tuit." You did a great job. Zandra
