Basket of Fruit

Inspired by a raised relief on a cake tin I designed this for a more advanced class in stumpwork. One of my top pupils, Joanna Lupke, helped me to stitch it but sadly developed glaucoma and was subsequently unable to see to do fine work anymore. I still think of her whenever I look at this piece. This was also completed a good few years ago but still an all time favourite.

Yup scarey thought!! She was was of the most accomplished stitchers I ever had the privilege of teaching - her work was immaculate!

This is glorious Lorna, such a shame about Joanna having glaucoma, I had lazer treatment for it years ago and seems to have done the trick allthough eyes are getting worse, age I think.
