Basket of Fruit

Inspired by a raised relief on a cake tin I designed this for a more advanced class in stumpwork. One of my top pupils, Joanna Lupke, helped me to stitch it but sadly developed glaucoma and was subsequently unable to see to do fine work anymore. I still think of her whenever I look at this piece. This was also completed a good few years ago but still an all time favourite.

This is an amazing piece. I think all stitchers are concerned with losing any degree of eyesight so that they would not be able to stitch anymore, or worse yet, would not even be able to appreciate what others have created.  Thank you for sharing this.
