Even if you just trim then add a straight stitching to keep all layers together!Just a hint though: when stitching do not start at a corner ! Starting away from the corner seems to give a more even stitching, also if you have a rotary cutter with a wavy (deckle(?) edge you get an interesting edge. Happy stitching
Hi Maureen. I think that might be what I need to do, trim the edges to size and add a border instead of trying to turn under the edges. No matter how hard I try I never can get the edges even. Well, not all of them have turned out uneven. But these four sure did even though I was really careful. I do use a heavy stabilizer on the back, yes. I thought that would do the trick, but no. Next time I will just trim and add a border. Thanks :)
Before I could offer advice, I would need to know WHAT you use as STABILISER for your postcard?
I have been making and swapping fabric postcards for over six years and some 500 cards (withouut bragging
I usually "build" my postcards on a 6.5 by 4.5 inch Fast2fuse stabiliser, and when satisfied I trim down to a 6inch by 4 inch size. Having sized it down to a 6by4 inch rectangle, I normally use a blanket stitch edging and "seal the edges".
Then it's time to add message and address on the reverse side;add a stamp and POST!
Best wishes, Maureen in Queensland, Oz
Thanks everyone! The green leaves are fishbone stitch, I think. I like how they turned out, too. The green tatting with lots of picots (loops) is one of my favorite designs to do.
I think this is my favourite, love the way you have continued the design of the fabric over to the blue section. Tatting is one of my favourite embellishments I think it adds an elegant touch.
Beautiful piece i love the little green leaves. Hugs Elaine
