I am encouraging everyone to tag their photos.  This means when you click on the tag you will see a sub-collection of photos that is like a category.  As an example see the tag needlecase

This means we can use tags to create categories of things that interest us like fabric postcards or fabric books or crazy quilting or stitches. These are just examples but if everyone tags their photos we can browse categories rather than thousands of photos that may not interest you.

When you load photos you are given the option to tag them but what happens if you do not do it? What then?

How to tag your photos that are already on stitchin fingers
Go to your photo
Above the photo on the right hand side click on the options button to access the drop down menu where you will find  "edit your tags"
Type in the field to add a tag.

Use single words separated by a comma to make different tags.

Note For two words   With tags you can not have a space between the word (it's the technology not me). If your tag contains two words place the words between inverted commas So instead of typing crazy quilting type "crazy quilting"
OR  run two  words together. This means descriptions like crazy quilting becomes crazyquilting.

Try and tag with terms everyone uses as that way mini collections on the network naturally form
Click save and you are done!
What terms do I use?
Use terms like
Type of work or technique such as;
quilting, crazyquilt, knitting, handembroidery, tatting, goldwork, stumpwork, blackwork, crossstitch etc
Tags that describe what it is such as;
sampler, doll, quilt, garment, book, postcard, fabricbook,
Materials used such as:
silk, paper, cotton
You can use other tags too such as colour or artists name. It's up to you but the main ones would be tags people are likely to want to browse the site by such as technique or object. Think in terms of doll makers want to look at dolls, so tag them that. Fabric book makers want to look at fabric books and so on. I am sure you get the idea. Think in terms of what people might look for and you have your tags.
