I arrived home yesterday to find a number of envelopes from all over the world waiting for me. Wonderful, thank you so much everyone. Today is my birthday eve and I cannot wait any longer :) so...
Ellen – Lovely tatted sunflowers ATC with a hand coloured background, a packet of really useful sequins and interesting postage stamps
Tahlia - An exciting red & gold ATC using a background of woven fabric strips and a sweet note card for future use
Maja – A delightful ATC made with her own hand-dyed felt and threads in lovely blues and violets. Also a sweet little hanging felt bird.
Eileen – gorgeous beach scene stitched onto (hand?) coloured felt and using tiny, tiny shells. Eileen sent a beautiful bracelet made from crochet gold thread and blue beads as well.
Susan – An exquisite cross stitch ATC, using an amazing overdyed thread. The ATC came wrapped in lovely silver ribbon
Thank you so much everyone, all the ATCs are beautiful and I appreciate the time you have taken to make them.
Regards, Annette
Permalink Reply by Eileen Carkett on February 5, 2012 at 2:53 I am so glad that the ATC arrived in time and that you liked it. The background was made with the embellisher and hand dyed fibres.
It's my son's birthday on February 6th. He lived in NZ for three years, Nelson and Wellington and we went to see him and your lovely country.
Happy Birthday!
Eileen

Permalink Reply by Kalona Simmons on February 5, 2012 at 3:42 Such a shame the bead broke... I thought I'd protected it enough...lesson learnt!!
I'm glad it found you though, and that you like it. It was fun to make- I like making backgrounds and then find different ways to embellish. Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Kal,xxx
(btw- my birthname is Holt, not many of us left here now...)

This beautiful peacock feather is from Kalona!
It had a little heart-shaped leaf bead at the center of the peacock's eye which sadly got cracked in half in the mail. <sniff!> but I think this peacock feather is just gorgeous with or without that bead, and I will find a way to use the pieces of the broken bead in another artwork, even! Kalona handpainted a canvas background for this ATC, then stitched metallic thread accents and beads for energy and sparkle. the eye of the feather is made from fused Angelina fiber! Super!! Thank you! .. and I love the little envelope you sent it in-- it is going to go into one of my scrapbooks for sure!
would love to join in birthday swap my birthday is july 13

Permalink Reply by Eileen Carkett on February 10, 2012 at 5:09 Hi Ellen,
It's up to you.
I wasn't sure how long it would take to reach you, so I had to post early, probably too early.
It took longer than the card to NZ.
"Happy Birthday"
Eileen
