For those who have already done some of this work, those who are admirers of the style and would like to make a start and also just for curious enquirers.
A quick reminder: If you have a question to ask or something you want others' views, opinions and replies to, please post it in the Discussion Forum and not the Comment Wall. Many thanks!

Comment by Loren Frantzen-Murris on February 12, 2012 at 8:22 So Grace, paper it is for us, no solvy, no plastic :):):)
Comment by Grace Lister on February 12, 2012 at 8:12 Loren. This is the way I was taught by Barbara Hirst to make needlelace clothing for figures. I use tracing paper too and it does mean that you can make clothing in a very realistic manner.

Comment by Loren Frantzen-Murris on February 12, 2012 at 7:17 This is example of how I work , I make a paper design of the whole insect and the loose elements . I pin the the wings on the background in the hoop and while bending the wire in the shape of the wings I couche them at the same time. So the paper is captured in the wire. It is very easy now to make needle lace wing. Just cut the couching thread at the back of your work and the wing comes free. I have no example like this on the way, but I will make photo's of it next time.
Comment by Loren Frantzen-Murris on February 6, 2012 at 6:02 Well ,I dont think I can make a video, but I will make more photo's about the method. I am a kind of free embroiderer, so my original design is quit simple and it grows while working. With this method of thick shiny paper I can ad leaves directly in a almost finished project .The paper protects the embroidery already done already done. I think the method is already used for needle weaving. I will take more photo's next time.
Loren, if you have time, I'd love to see a video tutorial of what you just said...I'm such a visual learner , but your example below sounds really neat!
Comment by Loren Frantzen-Murris on February 5, 2012 at 10:26 I always like to use what does not cost and is very closeby always in various qualities and that's paper or thin cardboard (carton-theeboxes, shiny magazine's asf ). I just cut out the exact shape, fit it in the already couched wire shape. I often use woolen feltbackground and it is difficult not to take up some hairs here and there. Making needlelace leaves unattached at the tip, I place a piece of cardboard between the pin and the base of the leave. (see summerevening 2 ) and after removing the pin and the cardboard you can shape your leave like you want it.
Comment by Elizabeth Braun on January 31, 2012 at 5:16 Yes, I don't see a problem with a discussion, but I think the Discussion Forum part of the group might be a more suitable place for it than the Comment Wall.=)
