I remember that book when it was first published.  It was very innovative at the time and I remember that Erica Wilson made a tv series using some of her designs.  I think that was the first time modern embroidery had been shown on tv.

3 weeks ago, I discovered a copy of Erica's " Embroidery Book" in the local second hand shop. I snapped it up, I can tell you. It's a wonderful book!

Elmsley - I have that book! The Craft of Silk and Gold Thread Embroidery. I bought a used copy on Amazon.com. If you have questions about it, just email me :) Mary

Arlene, those dogs are amazing. Just astoundingly beautiful! The "dotty" coloring as Elmsley puts it is wonderful!

Merry Christmas to you too Arlene - and everyone else :-)
I've stared at the dogs since, Arlene. The things that get me are the shaping and the colouring. Especially the 'dotty' colouring on the Dalmation.

As you may have heard, Erica Wilson passed away yesterday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erica_Wilson I have her "Embroidery Book" on my wishlist - it's referred to very often in the HE community as a stitch guide.

Looking at her bibliography, she also wrote "Craft of silk and gold thread embroidery and stump work." (1973) - 96 pages.

I have searched. It is commonly available for sale, but I can find absolutely no mention of the contents or any kind of review, except someone on LibaryThing gave it 5 stars.

Do you know this book?

May Erica rest in peace.

Thanks Elmsley, as I do more, I know I'm getting better at it, and much more even. That saying always comes back to me, practice makes perfect, so true, so true.  Merry Christmas dear friend.

I've been reading your posts, loads of information here, I certainly have learnt a thing or two.  I've been busy needle lacing dogs for an upcoming class that I'm planning, here are two of them. Rosey the Beagle and a dalmation.
