Hi,

 Has anyone ever bought from
http://stores.ebay.com.au/SILK-RIBBON-AND-MORE/ASSORTMENTS-/_i.html... ?

The description just says "silk ribbon".

If it's decent, it would be a brilliant way to build stash. Has anyone an opinion? (I hope it's ok to ask this question here)

They also offer "gypsy ribbon". Has anyone ever used this in SRE? Have any examples to show?

best,

Megan/Elmsley Rose

I never bought from this sites, I always order my ribbons directly from South Africa (Di van Niekerk) because the ribbons are so beautiful dyed.

Cheers
I love Di's ribbons too - but some inexpensive ribbon for cardmaking wouldn't go astray!

I always buy my ribbons, both silk and others, from Crafty Ribbons at Blandford, Dorset.  www.craftyribbons.com  and have also visited this site.  It is wonderful!!!  They have a huge warehouse filled floor to ceiling with ribbons of all types and are so helpful.  It makes a lovely day out.

Where in the United States can we buy Ribbon?  I'm as new as they come and I will be learning from scratch. What is a good assortment to start out with?

Thank you

Kathy

Also  one of our sponsors Maureen's Vintage Acquisitions sells good silk ribbon- I have purchased some or her stuff and her hand dyed stuff is lovely. Service is good and prices are reasonable.  Just click on her advert and visit her site.
I have never heard of Gypsy Ribbon. Maybe it is a term for the multi-coloured ribbons you can get.
From memory (which, in my case, is entirely unreliable) it was crinkled.

Gosh - there are a million places! I'm in Oz, so I'm not as familiar.

Perhaps you'd like to start a new discussion on this, because your question is a bit hidden in my thread.

Di Van Niekirk has been mentioned. She's in South Africa- beautiful, wide range of ribbons, good shipping costs, and the Zand is very cheap against the dollar. Also, she will attend to any queries/issues personally.

Yes,

I buy most all of my silk ribbon from the ebay store Silk Ribbon and More, but it's in the US. Their prices are great. Love the way their ribbon sews up. Love the assortment packs. I'm a repeat customer of theirs. I just can't get silk ribbons for embroidery like theirs locally.

Thanks, Sewingitalltogether. I see that they also have a shop on Ebay
I've used Gypsy Ribbon, which I bought as variegated hand-dyed ribbon about a half-inch wide, with a black or gold edge, to make small gathered flowers, rosettes, and twisted and beaded bows and borders. I got mine in the USA where I live. It's fun stuff and I'd recommend a small amount to experiment with, you may hate it or you may love it.
