I'm always looking for books and resources on SRE. I was wondering if any of you would like to share your favorites?

I have most of the books by Judith Baker Montano. She shows the ribbon stitches as well as embroidery and how to combine different stitches together for wonderful pattern combos.

Here's the titles I have:

(these images were pulled from Amazon.com)

I really like the first two books above (Elegant stitches and Floral Stitches). The other two are good for ideas and more stitch examples.

Please share your favorites and why...I'm looking to expand my library.

Cheers!

:-)

I'm a big Di Van Niekirk fan.

Because I already did Stumpwork, I adore "A Perfect World". The detached leaves really aren't that hard. Just sewing within a perimeter of fine wire, then sewing the perimeter of wire to make it strong, then cut it out, and there you go - a bendy leaf! (or petal). It takes a longer than a ribbon stitch, tho, that's for sure! But I think it's worth it.

And there is only some detached work in the book.
Candace Klings book on silk ribbon embroidery is an excellent book, I refer to this book all the time for ideas and the pictures of how to do the different ribbon stitches is excellent. Love this book.
There are lots of SRE resources on CQMagonline just browse the past issues
You tube has lots of resources and Di van Niekerk has lots of videos up
Oh cool - thanks to all for your input. I didn't know Candace Kling had a SRE book out - I have her original ribbon flower book though which is wonderful. And Di van Niekerk looks promising. I did notice her books when i was cruising through Amazon. I'll take a look at the CQMagonline too - I've never heard of this before.

Thanks all for sharing! This is exciting to see/hear about new sources. :-D
Di's books and dvd's are great, as are her online tutorials. Wondeful eye candy.

I have An Encyclopedia of Ribbon Embroidery Birds, Butterflies and Blossoms by Deanna Hall West. Also An Encyclopedia of Ribbon Embroidery Flowers and Fruits, Vegetables, & Herbs. They cover quite a lot of of mofits. Another one full of eyecandy The New Ribbon Embroidery By Victoria Adams Brown. Another is Silk Ribbon Embroidery By Sheena Cable. I have been looking on Amazon and drooling over some of the other titles. I think I sit and daydream over them more than getting anything done.
HELLO. I'm Toos from the Netherlands and I'm crazy about Silk Ribbon Embroidery. My favorite books areThe Ribbon Embroidery Bible by Joan Gordon All the books from Di van Niekerk from South Africa and the books from Ann Cox. I like the books from Di van Niekerk because they are in a combination of Stumpwork. This is a kind of embroidery I like also very much. I hope my English isn't too bad, because I don't write in English very often.

Bye
Hi Toos, :-)

I like the work of Di and Ann as well! We must have similar likes:-)

I mentioned that book you mentioned by Di - "The Perfect World". I mean to write in a comment saying that that particular book is a combination of Stumpwork and Ribbonwork - not just a regular Ribbonwork book. Isn't it great? I was looking at it last night.

She does have other books, and heaps of other sorts of projects that ARE just ribbonwork, and lovely ribbon. (divide Zaire dollars by about 7 to give you a rough idea of the cost of everything for $US/$AU).

I shall have to check out the The Ribbon Embroidery Bible by Joan Gordon. I have 4 new ones from the library this week, but only liked the Ann Cox.

I'm lucky in that I'm building a wishlist for my 40th birthday, and so can put some good SRE books (since I'm new at it) on the list :-)

all the best

Your English is almost as good as mine and I'm from the US! I'll have to look up Ann Cox.
