Comment by Arlene White on May 1, 2013 at 15:49 Hi Lily, I too think your block is lovely. If I was to add to it, i would possibly add some darker toned beads to the laces, but that's all I would do, anything else would cluter it I think.

Hi Lily. Welcome to the group! I personally think your block looks great as it is. It has a nice balance and great texture as well as a nice focal point. Will this become an item on its own or will it be joined with other blocks?
Comment by Cara in NC on April 29, 2013 at 8:23 Hi Lily, Your work is so original and the monochromatic color theme is very pretty. Would darker tones placed in some sort of balanced way add the interest you want? One trial of a design's appeal is to look at it from a distance as well as close up. That way, you can see if you have visual interest and the addition of medium and darker tones may provide that. You do not need to have the same proportion of medium/dark tones as you do of lighter ones. Sometimes, just a little tonal addition is sufficient.

Comment by lily da vallata on April 28, 2013 at 12:36 Hello Everyone, I'm new to this group and am excited to read what everyone is doing and see some of your work.
I recently joined another RR from another site. I'm feeling like this block needs something else, but not sure what that something should be. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.
Comment by Olivia Torma on April 8, 2013 at 6:44 I'm still trying to pick the best trade show to go to....there are sooo many. :o)
Comment by Lorna Bateman on April 8, 2013 at 6:13 I could kick myself as a few years back there was a supplier at one of the big trade shows here and I lost their details - think I will have to atttend trade show again next year:)
Comment by Olivia Torma on April 8, 2013 at 6:11 You're welcome Lorna. I found The Ribbon Gardner's selection exactly what I am looking for and their retail prices are very competitive compared to other prices I've seen and have paid for :o(
Comment by Lorna Bateman on April 8, 2013 at 6:05 Hi Olivia - thank you for that - crafty ribbons do not have much on their site at all. I am sure they are just remnanyts of what they used to keep - had all the widths - now only narrow!
Comment by Olivia Torma on April 8, 2013 at 6:03 Hi Lorna and Grace,
Thanks for your messages. I haven't tried craftyribbons but will take a look. I did find a supplier in the US that stocks a large collection of French ombre ribbons and wrote to them but never heard back. I'll have to contact them again. The shop is called The Ribbon Gardner http://www.theribbongardner.com/.
