Absolutely echo Grace's point below. Also if we undersell we are thereby implying that this form of art is cheap whereas it is most definitely not - from any aspect at all.

Olivia, I have been stitching for over 60 years and embroidery has never fetched the prices they should.  If you count up the time spent in designing, placing the idea onto fabric, stitching it and placing it into a frame or making up into something else, it all adds up to an astronomical amount.  I have sold many things in my time but they never really fetch a sum that is viable given the time and effort spent on it.

Does anyone know how to price silk ribbon embroidered or any embroidery for that matter? I have found an article that suggests a rate of 1c per stitch with the average person stitching at a rate of 45 stitches per minute. I'd appreciate anyone thoughts on this or some pointers.

Thanks so much.

Hi Lily, I too think your block is lovely.  If I was to add to it, i would possibly add some darker toned beads to the laces, but that's all I would do, anything else would cluter it I think.

Hi Lily.  Welcome to the group!  I personally think your block looks great as it is.  It has a nice balance and great texture as well as a nice focal point.  Will this become an item on its own or will it be joined with other blocks?

Hi Lily, Your work is so original and the monochromatic color theme is very pretty. Would darker tones placed in some sort of balanced way add the interest you want? One trial of a design's appeal is to look at it from a distance as well as close up. That way, you can see if you have visual interest and the addition of medium and darker tones may provide that. You do not need to have the same proportion of medium/dark tones as you do of lighter ones. Sometimes, just a little tonal addition is sufficient.

Hi Lily,  Your block is beautiful. Maybe it needs  some buttons or beads.

Hello Everyone, I'm new to this group and am excited to read what everyone is doing and see some of your work.

I recently joined another RR from another site. I'm feeling like this block needs something else, but not sure what that something should be. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I could kick myself as a few years back there was a supplier at one of the big trade shows here and I lost their details - think I will have to atttend trade show again next year:)
