I just found this group and it looks like what I've been looking for!  I have a couple books on freeformknitting but haven't had the courage to dig in yet.  My goal is to create three-dimensional landscape scenes out of scrumbles, primarily knitting, but I like the effect of crochet in them, too.  I'll have to get some lessons from a friend to brush up on my crochet.  Any ideas you have would be very welcome!

There are some great links in the other threads of this group, they helped me make my first scrumble. If you want to brush up your crochet, maybe this link will help you. Be sure to check her YouTube channel too.

Hi,

Take a look at Jane Thornley...she does some very effective free form work.. I am particularly interested in modern  wall hangings Not very much around I am afraid. I have been working on ideas for a while & have couple of throws on my Ravelry page. Wooldeb is my name there.

Hi Deb,

Thanks for the lead to Jane Thornley.  I signed up for her newsletter.  I guess I'm also interested in wall hangings, but of what nature I can't tell yet.  We'll see where the spirit leads me as I start picking colors and making things.  I'm going to start my first scrumble tomorrow when my knitting group meets.  I did a lot of poking around yesterday and was particularly inspired by Prudence Mapstone's blog with a scrumble a week.  I also bought some books and printouts with creative crochet stitches.  Now to play!

Hi Annet, I checked some other threads, bookmarked lots of them, and am ready to go.  I'll share the results and appreciate the help.

Hi Jan ,

You have certainly been busy with your research... another one you may find interesting especially in crochet rensfibreart you will fine her amongst lots of others on Ravelry.
Will be interested to see how you progress. Deb

Hello Everyone,

I just completed my first crochet project along with some flowers.  I finally was able to do a tiny piece with the crochet Bullion Stitch.  I found it very difficult but after adjusting my hook I finished it.  I have added these photos  to  My Page and My Blog. Within the next day or two  I should be receiving the book I ordered from Annie's Attic called "Learn to Free Form Crochet" by Margaret Hubert.  I hope to use some of these flower in my first "Scrumble".   Hugs Judy

I read your discussion theme and some of the answers and found this wonderful page: scarfitup at Flickr.

I can't copy the address. Try to find scarfitup at Flickr. You will be overwhelmed. It is so so good.

I just had a look at scarfitup to as you suggested to Judy...wow what a variety of scarfs think she is also on Ravelry.

I don't know about Ravelry. - I am already too long at the computer. Igot two excellent books through Amazon - from Australia - Renate Kirkpatrick Freeform Crochet and beyond and Jenny Dowde Freeformations. This helps enormously to crochet and to knit al kinds of formations for scrumbles.

I agree I spend too much time on the computer but if you haven't been on Ravelry it is worth while. www.ravelry.com   It can waste a lot of time . I have seen a lot of Renates work as I spent a very interesting morning with her . She lives not far from my son in Queensland.   Deb
