Those are beautiful, Nancilyn, they would be wonderful embellishments or whatever you choose to do with them. I keep scrap yarn beside my chair and work on all sizes of grannies, but I like your idea much better.

Actually I have done some scrumbling of late. I needed a little embellishment for some textured surfaces I was working on, so I grabbed some white crochet thread and made a motif or two. The idea was that after I stitched it to the surface I would color it with paints & inks... Never got around to actually attaching the motifs, but the crochet thread plus some white cotton yarn stayed next to my recliner in the den/tv room where DH insists I spend at least part of the day & evenings with him. Needless to say every night or so during prime time I found myself playing with the thread. I'll probably dye/hand paint these and perhaps make a scarf or something -- or just keep the motifs for the embellishment stash.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on Freeform crochet Yahoo groups. Some of the work those folks do is truly amazing. I think you will enjoy the group. You have made a great start on your freeform already.

thankyou Barbara, I will be applying to join the yahoo group I really enjoy all the stuff I do but the scrumbles are so liberating and can be done anywhere (providing you don't mind carrying bin bags full of yarn with you lol!)

I would really like to join this group, I only recently discovered freeform and scrumbles through Prudence Mapstones site and I am hooked(pardon the pun) have just puty a pic of my first one on my stitchin fingers page

Some of them have the look of freeform, so you obviously know how to work outside the box. Freeform should come easy to you. I had a more difficult time learning to crochet without a pattern; now I have learned, it is much easier. I'm not nearly as artistic as you, though.
