Very interesting work -- thank you for sharing it.  How do you find such interesting sites?

This album has a lot of really nice drawn thread work in it.

Alison, welcome to Stitchinfingers.  I do quite a lot of Blackwork as well as everthing else including Silk Shading so if you have any questions please do ask.  You will find Stitchfingers members very helpful on all sort of questions.  Have a look through all our photos which will give you some idea of what members do.

Allison

Your certificate work sounds ambitious.  I think stitchinfingers has a gold work group, but I don't think there are specialty groups for blackwork or silk shading.  There are some members who do blackwork.  kbsalazar is one.

I'm new to Stitchin Fingers, I've been doing a variety of hand embroidery techniques and am mainly self taught. I enrolled on a Royal School of Needlework Certificate Course last year and am currently doing my crewelwork module. To gain the Certificate, I will also need to complete modules in Blackwork, Beginners Gold work and Silk Shading.

Possibly Dresden work or similar, at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

kb, I enjoyed seeing several of your projects on your blog.  It looks like you are trying every possible permutation of blackwork and Assisi, with pulled thread thrown in.

Managed to achieve the openwork mesh voided effect found on some 1500s/1600s artifacts.  Am using Italian two sided boxed cross stitch, pulled very tightly, but much depends on having the right ground cloth, with a sufficiently airy weave.  Pix here (also in my albums):   http://www.string-or-nothing.com/2012/06/05/MESHY.aspx

Thanks for sharing Lorelei. There are some dice drawn thread borders & corners in that album too.
