I've written a tutorial for needlepoint lace on my blog. There are several installments, so I thought I'd summarize those here:
Part 1: Creating the Pattern
Part 2: Preparing the foundation
Part 3: Materials used and sewing the cordonnet (outline)
Part 4: The finished outline and deciding on the filling stitches
Part 5: Working the filling stitches
Part 6: More details on the lace fillings
Part 7: Finished lace fillings
Part 8: Covering the outline with buttonhole stitches
Part 9: Removing the finished piece from the pattern
Thank you for this tutorial. I have just gotten interested in needle lace as an alternative to the knitting which I cannot do for long periods of time anymore. This tutorial was just what I needed to get started. Did you see the spread in Fiber Arts about the artist using needle lace in her work. That was what really gave me the spark I needed. I was able to get some used out of print books and with your tutorial, my first attempt is underway. I'll post a picture when it gets farther along. In the meantime. Thanks!

Since writing the list of posts down in this thread I finally managed to put the tutorial on one page with links to all the parts and some additional information:
Needlepoint Lace Tutorial
Just now today I went and read through your entire needlepoint lace tutorial. Very very well done. Your writing is clear, your photos are clear and beautiful. You've given both specific instructions, but also an overview so that a total newbie can grasp the overall strategy. When I get my website up and running I intend to include a link to your tutorial. My hopeless beginner's samples are a total disgrace compared to yours. And I find I agree also with your overall intention of showing people in general how modern designs can work in an old traditional technique. I also agree with your intention to raise the status of embroidery in the eyes of the world at large. Well done.
