I'd love to have a needle tatting book if someone has one they aren't using. I taught myself to needle tat a couple years ago and I just listed some photos of my work here on stitchinfingers. I'll try to add them here. I also did a story for CQMagonline.com. if anyone's interested. http://cqmagonline.com/Volume11/Issue02/articles/1101/index.shtml
I'm just stopping by to say hello and read some of the discussion threads here, I've not been around here for a while due to other interests sort of taking over ( spinning, becoming a yarn shop partner etc) but,,,, I've just bought new bobbins, some new pillows and am now in the process of arranging a bobbin lace taster session alongside one of the spinning group sessions so it looks like I'm back in the fold guys so looks out!!
Hi,
I have finished the first motif in the book Starting Needlepoint Lace, and I would like any comments about it. I know there is a LOT of room for improvement. This is my first try though. If you have time, would you give me some feedback on what I've done?
Thanks!

Comment by Karen Trettel on April 12, 2012 at 21:12 Lorelei, Thank you so much for sharing the www.otiskyprstu.ic.cz.minidecky.htm This is so nice, I really enjoyed all of the different crochet patterns. They are lovely! The little girl and baby hats are exceptional!
James: Both DMC 1st and 2nd series are now on the ariz.edu site as free downloads, so the copyright must be expired. I've looked at both online, and they didn't always scan the patterns very well. If you have the original, at least you have intact, perfect patterns. I have both, which I purchased back in the 1980s when they were reprinted. In my copies the large foldout pattern pages were in a pocket at the back.
I recommend using a computer scanner to make digital copies of the patterns. Then you can preserve the originals without damaging them. It will be a time-consuming job, but worth it.
In my version, the 1st series is in French, on torchon. The 2nd series is in German, on tape lace. But all the DMC publications have gone through mutliple reprints, so anything is possible.
Comment by james Dennison on April 12, 2012 at 9:53 I am now back from Amsterdam and Lithuania, and I managed to survive. and someone keep a little bit of money from going to the threads. I did make a major find, I believe, but I'd like some input from my lace-making friends. I found a mint copy of DMC Kloppelspitzen 1st Serie, complete with patterns still in the book. It is in the original German. I know that the 2nd in the series was printed in 1924, but I have no idea what year this 1st Series was printed. It is exquisite to look at, and I really would like to remove a pattern to copy it, but that would severely reduce the value of the book. If anyone has any info on the book or How I can prreserve the patterns, I would love to hear. It appears this book contains 55 pin prick patterns.

The Illinois chapter called L.A.C.E. had a lace day 2 years ago, I think it was. At the lace day one of their vendors was selling the exact same bracelet blank that Loretta used. But I can't remember which vendor it was. The guild website is lacemakersofillinois
Comment by Ruth Kurz on April 3, 2012 at 11:38 I just received my latest AOLI Bulletin and really would like to try and make the Orchid Needlelace bracelet. I have spent hours on line looking for the wire lace bracelet blank. I found nothing even close to it. I would appreciate any help to locate one. Thank you.

Comment by james Dennison on March 17, 2012 at 8:08 Well, I am almost ready to leave for Amsterdam. I am looking forward to meeting many of my online friends. Then I travel to Lithuania. Unfortunately, I will arrive Easter Sunday and have just missed the Annual Crafts Fair, so I probably won't get to see much lacework while I am visiting Vilnius. If anyone knows lacemakers in Vilnius, I would love to see some of their work.
