I'm just getting ready to mark off a needle lace area on a sampler I'm working on. I haven't done a lot of needle lace, but I have done some. Anyone have a good resource (especially an online one - can't buy books right now!) that might be particularly useful for inspiration and technique-talk? Any advice would be most welcome!

Thanks!

Thanks, Lorelie! the first link doesn't work for me, for some reason ...? I think the tutorial on the second link is EXCELLENT. I blogged about it a couple weeks ago. It's really well done, isn't it?

Silly me for not looking for pictures here. Thanks for the tip!

Best,
Mary

The petitcour site worked for me just now, but it is slow to load. Maybe if you give it enough time to fall into your computer you'll be able to see it.
Hi, Lorelie -

Yep, this morning, it came up. Love the dragonflies!! Thanks!
Thanks for linking to me, you brought quite a bit of traffic to my blog that way. Glad you like the tutorial, I had lots of fun writing it!

two other lpossible online resources: you probably know about the DMC Encyclopedia now viewable online? It has a lot of needlelace stitches.

Another is the http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books.html site which has several DMC pamphlets that have expired copyrights and are therefore in the public domain, available as pdf files for free, including some on needlelace.
The arizona site is great, there's a lot of interesting books there. Another place to check out is project Gutenberg's Crafts Bookshelf, including a nice version of the Encyclopedia of Needlework.

In case you miss the note in pulled thread group: one of the sites our pulled thread friends found for me has a downloadable tutorial on needlelace. I make no claims as to quality.

Hi, Lorelei -

Thanks for the link! I like heritage shoppe. They do a nice job on several tutorials. I just can't stand the noise the website makes when you scroll over their links and buttons...!

I use the weaving patterns website all the time, by the way. It's one of those things I think I've promoted to death on my website. It's an excellent resource!

Thanks again, Lorelei!

It occurs to me that you might find membership in arachne useful. It is a lace news group that has existed since the mid 90s. Mostly bobbin lace, but with a serious sprinkling of needle lacers. A good place for questions. They have a slot on community webshots where members can upload photos. Don't remember if there is much needle lace, but there is some.
To join, Go to
http://www.arachne.com/list_instructions.html
and follow the instructions. I recommend the "subscribe lace" option (the 1st one). I just found out that Catherine Barley is also a member (needlelace author).
