Good morning, afternoon, evening wherever you are. Have just been reviewing a few of
the older posts here in our little group and have done some re-arranging of featured discussions.

It has all been a bit quiet here lately, not a problem we all have lives and other things to do, but I wondered if another JE stitching challenge was in order. So just posting this to gauge reaction. I have a couple of ideas to vary this and would like some feedback from the group to see which is most popular.

Idea one.

A design idea which can be interpreted in your own way, combined with other images or media to come up with a unique piece. With this option members could, if they wanted, blog about their progress individually or just post pictures of the end result.

Idea two.

A fixed design which can not be changed but which can be embroidered using your own choices for colours and techniques. This second could give us the opportunity to set up a discussion/page/something so we can share our collective ideas, questions, thoughts. Working collaboratively but still ending up with a piece which is unique to each of us.

Let me know what you think or if you have any other ideas for a stitching challenge.

I like both ideas.   Problem for me is that I have had Poem Papers on the back burner for months because being doing another project, now almost complete, so have to concentrate on PP now. so would depend upon the size of design you may have in mind.    Thanks for your input.     Peggy
I would like either idea, although I prefer the 2nd. It is very interesting to see how peoples approaches vary. Pat

Sorry Jane

This is the first time I have been on the site for a long time.  Have been involved with family and disasters.  This seems a good idea.  Hopefully will get time in a few weeks to think up a design.  It was lovely to see you in Bournmouth.

Eeeeck!  I haven't moved past the thinking stage with the first challenge yet!

Much as I love the idea and would like to join in, I think I would have to pass this up for now.  Having said that I would have opted for the 2nd choice.  It fascinates me that given one design, people can come up with so many unique versions left to their own devices.  And I'd love to stick my nose into the discussion group :-)

Thank you for the replies so far. I think the second idea would be the best as well.  Cathy, don't worry about thinking up a design I'll publish the one we'll use here on the site.

We'll leave it for a couple more weeks to give everybody else the chance to chip in with their thoughts.

I've seen that we can add pages to the group, might be a good idea to use these to post any questions/ideas. I haven't figured out how they work yet, I'll have a play around and will post an update soon.

I would prefer the second idea.  Recently a small group of us have been stitching the same design but using different colours and techniques and the end results are most interesting.

Betty

I like the second suggestion as it provides an opportunity to share ideas.  However, I have several pieces on frames that need completing, so I would not participate in the challenge.  But, I do find it interesting to follow the flow of creativity--I did enjoy and admire the blog set up by Iris in September 2009 as she outlined her thoughts in choosing colors and her final design in "JE Stitching Challenge".  There are just too many wonderful pieces to stitch and just not enough time.

Nancy

I think I'd prefer the second idea too - whether to participate or follow...

Elizabeth

Ok, so there isn't many of us, but lets give it a go. Others can join in if they want to later down the line.

So, we'll go for option 2 - all the same design with no changes to the design but your own take on colours, threads, techniques.

I've set up a new page for the group, each group can now have multiple pages.  If you go to the group home page and page down to underneath where all the members are listed there is a link there for pages.

I'll come up with a design and post it over there.  PDFs, word documents and other formats will be availabe as required.

Watch this space (well that space really I suppose) ....

Sorry Jane not to have replied sooner, I will try to join in the challenge too, I have two projects on the go at the moment which I should really finish, but can never resist a challenge, look forward to seeing your design.
