Hi everyone@ I am so interested being a part of the stitch along... I somehow go so far behind the TAST, that hoping the stitch along will not be so dauting to me... So glad to be connecting with you again, you are such a inspiration to all us...

Where have I been for 24 hours? Just found your list Sharon - I have printed it out and want to have a good look at it. It looks tremendous. Thankyou for all the time you have put into it already. I love the idea of being able to pick and choose - already I know I do want to try canvas stitches on linen.
should we form a separate group? I don't have strong feelings either way but I think we need to at least put it under a particular discussion - rather than in general comments.
Is there to be a Flickr group for the stitchalong or will it tack onto the previous TAST group there?

Thanks Carol Anne - Ok I will keep it here but don't hesitate to say if anyone thinks that it should be a group

This topic does seem to be dominating at the moment but I think that is because we are all so excited about it. It is totally on topic for hand embroidery so I would say leave it in this group for the time being, if it still dominates when we have settled into it a bit, we can reconsider.

What a magnificent list, thank you for the work that you've put into this.

Hi all I have spent a good few hours over my stitch books and have been putting together the stitch along list.

As you can see it is quite long (over 200 stitches) and it will take an age to actually work all of it - yet I have sparkle in my eye over it.
I think many people will only want to stitch part of the list as pulled and canvas stitches are included here and lots of people are interested in surface embroidery alone. I am thinking of crazy quilters who I am sure will enjoy this and join in. I know many will simply not be interested in all the stitches but some will. So I think people can choose to work at what ever stitch they want when ever they want and I guess those few of us who enjoy the canvas stitches will just have to show what can be done with them and just ow wonderful these stitches can be. I particularly like them on linen rather than canvas but that is just me... I have yet to rate them as to difficulty but I will mark out the harder ones.

If you see a stitch that you want to have included please leave a reply here. I am sure this list will still grow as I am sure people will discover stitches and I may have forgotten some important stitches and will think of more as we go.

I have included some of the beaded stitches (thinking the crazy quilters would like them) but not included the silk ribbon embroidery stitches - do we want to include them? There are not that many silk ribbon stitches but they often get left out.

I like the idea of a large list but worry that it may put off some who are new to hand embroidery so we will have to make sure that people are aware that they do not have to do the lot!

We now need to find where the information can be sourced - Preferably online otherwise we will have to find a stitch dictionary to refer people to or put up directions. So my next task will be checking all the stitch dictionaries online and seeing what information is already out there

Also this topic seems to be taking over the conversation some what -Something I am sensitive to as often when I join in it's easy to dominate and those that are not so vocal hold back. It actually makes me not join in on things as I feel somehow I chatter too much. So do we need another separate group?

Hi everyone, it's Mara in Beijing here. I'm just trying to catch up on what a stitch along is, then I am sure to be in it! Cheers, Mara

Hi Everyone,
I love the idea of a stitch along. As a teacher my middle school students have been bugging me for instruction in "Granny work".
The idea of easy to more complicated would be a great idea for them. (I know a few of them are lurking out there.) I think it never hurts to go over those basics again. It keeps me in touch.

Hey I wouldn't mind being able to do a lazy daisy that even vaguely resembled a daisy. Apart from that I would love to learn lots of other stitches also.
