It is a free project from "Stitch" from some years ago, you can find it here: http://www.embroiderersguild.com/stitch/projects/encrustingcalico/i...
We, Deb and Marjolein, have admired that project ever since. Now we have decided to rush into this "Pebble Adventure".
Does anyone want to join us? We can share pictures and experiences here or provide links to blogs or flickr.

Hello Deb.  Thanks for your nice response.  I have adding photos here on the list figure out but I could not figure it out on how to do it on Flickr where Annet has all the other photos.   Thanks again for your efforts.  hugs Judy

Oh My Goodness!!!! I have the worst time adding photos here and just about the time I figure it out....I forget again.  When I try clicking the photo button and finding the file it just sits there and does not load.....As I remember the last time I had to go to the properties of the photo and do something there.....I will try and load something later and write the steps down...so we both can remember!!!

As for adding to the gallery..Annet will have to add it there....I think......You girls that know how to do all this technical stuff feel free to jump in!

I can have good looks and good sense both you know!

LOL

Marjolein, I now have a copy of Pat's summer magazine. What a lovely article that you have written. Deb's right!

Good for you Meg, it is quite an honor for Pat to feature you.  Congratulations also go out to Marjolein on the lovely article featuring her and this pebble adventure.

Deb

Looking forward to seeing the new pebbles! Good on you ladies for giving it a go. it is so much fun.

Thank you Meg!

I felt very honoured when Pat asked me to write this article.

I am thinking about making an ochre coloured pebble with hills and needle felted items. A sort of desert.

Ladies, especially the "new" pebble makers, have you ideas about what you are going to do?

I've added Judy's pebble to my new gallery on Flickr. There's room for 17 more pebbles! If you have a pebble on Flickr, just sent me the link in a message and I'll add it. This is the link to the new gallery.

Marjolein, congratulations for the nice article on Pat magazine  !

I think I might make a small embroidered rock. The rock pool is a bit unwieldy, but there are aspects of it that I like, so I feel like dyeing some fabric and having another shot. Once I have my smaller rock I can then get rid of the big artwork and just keep the rock. I look forward to seeing the new spate of pebbles that come out of this 2nd wind everyone seems to have. It's very inspiring!

A desert pebble sounds lovely. I look forward to seeing your ideas come to life as it were!

Marjolein, I just received my copy of "Crazy Quilt Gatherings", and  Wow! what a great article you wrote! You did a super job.

Thanks so much for asking to include my work. I am honored. It's my first time having my stitching published, and I'm just beaming!

Now, I'm looking forward to seeing more wonderful pebbles!

Thank you Iris!

I started my desert pebble. The base is a CD. Here is a picture of some of the trapped items: beads in different sizes, a button and padding.

Most of the padding is meant to create a smoother transition from the trapped little pebbles to the surface. Other padding e.g. left of the three beads, is meant for difference in altitude.

Here are the little pebbles embedded in the padding. Some sides of the pebbles are not padded. These sides are very steep and I want te keep it that way.

I have no idea yet how it will turn out.
