Do you recognize this?

It is a free project from "Stitch" from some years ago, you can find it here: http://www.embroiderersguild.com/stitch/projects/encrustingcalico/i...
We, Deb and Marjolein, have admired that project ever since. Now we have decided to rush into this "Pebble Adventure".
Does anyone want to join us? We can share pictures and experiences here or provide links to blogs or flickr.

Your pebbles are both so wonderful! So many detail to enjoy, all those tiny knots! Very beautiful!

Deb, your second pebble looks so mysterious with the dark on dark. I like it!  One beautiful light pebble, one mysterious dark,....what will pebble #3 be?

I did not think about it being mysterious.....but it is!  One light, one dark......one in between maybe?    I like the idea of finding things, trash to include in the pebbles.  Maybe I will try dyeing some fabric with all the dandelions in my yard!

Deb, you pebble is gorgeous. Who would have thought that the idea of a simple pebble would have bought out so much creativity, inspiration and beautiful stitching. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the work come in and must add to being tempted to have a go myself.

 Mandy,

Feel free to join in at any time!  There is no time limit on this project.  It really is an easy project to handle.  You can make it as large or as small as you like!  Let  us know if you need any help and we look forward to seeing your pebble!

I started the second pebble. This time I started the other way around that is with a finished piece of embroidery.

Pictures are on my blog: http://threads-and-patches.blogspot.com/2012/03/pebble-adventure-co...

Marjolein, your "sumptuous surfaces" work is beautiful, and a perfect UFO to turn into a pebble. I'm looking forward to seeing it all finished. Very nice!

I will have to go and look at this.....I can't decide is this a good idea or cheating!?!?!  LOL, I say if you can turn a UFO into a finished project, then it is a GREAT idea!

Hello Everyone,

Now that I am retired my mind is thinking all of the time about creating.  I know all you very creative people maybe able to help me with my questions.

I saw some very lovely beads on etsy called Tyvek Textile Beads.  I had to have them.  They should be here in the next day or two.  BUT My questions is where do you buy this stuff they call,   "TYVEK"???  Has anyone used it??  And does anyone know where to buy it.  Thanks hugs judy

Sorry Judy, I haven't used this, but  I'm hoping someone else has some answers.

Hello Judy

Tyvek is a non woven product, I have used paper Tyvek and fabric Tyvek. You can paint it, hand and machine sew it and especially heat it. It makes raised bubbles, holes...It is very useful in mixmedia. Beads are very easy to do by wrapping Tyvek around a wooden stick and heat. As I don't write english very well , I can't explain clearly but Gwen Hedley wrote a very interesting book " Surfaces for Stitch" where she explains all what you can do with Tyvek.Hope this can help you .Severine
