We, Deb and Marjolein, have admired that project ever since. Now we have decided to rush into this "Pebble Adventure".

I love this kind of embroidery and I would like to be part of it, if there is no close time limit! Happy Stitching Claudia

Pebbles are looking good. I have everything collected, so will also start to compose my textures tomorrow.

The blue pebble is looking intriguing and i love both Magpie's and misss76's!!  I was thinking of covering a largish pebble to make a door stop...will make one up using the suggestions here before trying  a heavier one...

Miss 376,

This is abolutely beautiful.  The way you added the shell makes my mind fill with ideas.  I really did not follow all the directions and I am wondering if you did.  Did you use cardboard and batting? Will you make another one?

Thanks for sharing the photo and the inspiration with us!

Deb

I did use cardboard and batting, but will probably do it differently next time.  I would probably bring the batting over the edges to make a more rounded join.  I do like the idea of covering a real pebble, and yes, I'm definitely doing another one.

Oma Rose,

I think a door stop would be a great way to show off your pebble adventure stitching.  All these great ideas!

Donna,

Use the threads you have, you may be surprised at how well they work. One thread I forgot to mention that I used was Heavy Duty sewing thread.   If you feel you need more variation in thread thickness, double the strands or use 2 different strands together in the needle.

I hope to start mine tomorrow.  Have been gathering threads, fabric and my bumps.  Have been studying some of the stitches to get a feel for what i want to do.

Your pebble is beautiful, Deb! You've used so many different stitches.

Good to know about the batting.  I thought some additional batting in mine would have been better too.  The only reason I decided against cardboard was, I thought I may like to wash the pebble at some point.  My original intention was to make it into a refrigerator magnet and those can get dirty. Glad you will be making more and I look forward to seeing them.

Neat idea, Marjolein, to use a real pebble!

Kathryn,

Thank you!  The wrinkles did smooth out as I stitched.  When you first encase the added items and see all those wrinkles....it makes you wonder..

Susan,

All those stitches to hide all those wrinkles!!!  I do wish I had varied the size of the stitches more and I will on the next one.
