I'm not sure how many of you have embroidered on fleece. I never had before, but I'm allergic to wool and wanted to make an adorable baby blanket that I found in the Australian magazine "Embroidery and Cross Stitch. I've found a very good quality of ivory fleece and it has been wonderful to work one. The pattern called for using a lot of wool threads and I've just substituted silks and cottons. I've been showing it step by step making the blanket on my blog. Please come and take a look. It might be a project that you would like to do. If you like Brazilian embroidery I had done a step by step of a BDE project back a while, too.
Joy...I found the only way for me to get it onto the fleece, was to use an air erasable marker. I just look at the original pattern and hand draw whatever segment of the design I'm working on......and can finish in a couple hours or I have to keep retouching the lines. Mine isn't EXACTLY like the original, but comes out pretty close. Nice thing, though.....no lines to worry about.....they just disappear. Sherry
Sherry, I love your blanket. I have done a couple of Jan Kerton's wool blankets and have also done one on fleece as well. It was for a new mom that I knew would not want to hand wash a blanket. But it turned out very cute. I attached a couple of pictures of one of the wool ones I did for my #2 daughter.
Hi Sherry, I have just had a quick look at your blog. I love that particular blanket and the idea of doing it on fleece is perfect. Many young mums don't have time these days to look after wool properly - everything goes into the machine for a wash. Fleece is ideal for the modern babe. That particular design is gorgeous and your flowers look lovely and bright.
