Hello Everyone, In the photo gallery I saw an embroidery art envelope. The envelope was made from fabric and embellished with embroidery motifs and even the address was embroidery too. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to create these envelopes. Thanks for sharing. Much appreciated. Hugs Judy
Hello Barbara and Chris, I saw the Fabric Art Envelopes on Kajin's Page. I think she is a recently new member to "Stitchin Fingers". She creates lovely embroidery creations. Have a look at her complete photo album. Very Lovely. Hugs Judy
The Cross Stitch group had a discussion on Mail Art Envelopes this spring. Annie B and I ended up swapping envelopes and had fun doing them. You can see pix in My Photo Album. If you go through the older discussions (on Cross Stitchin Fingers) you should be able to find some links. I don't recall off-hand if we had a tutorial in those links or if I found one on my own. The trickiest part is doing the stitching so that it ends right-side-up when the envelope is folded!
I took a note card envelope and opened it up flat after carefully pulling apart the edges where it was glued together. I used that to cut out my fabric. I basted some lines so I knew where the design would go. When it was done, I cut a lining fabric from the same template and sewed it to the stitched piece, right sides together leaving an opening for turning. I turned and slip stitched the opening closed, Then folded the piece just like the original notecard envelope was folded and used a slip stitch to sew it into shape. I used snaps for closures. Some people use buttons or velcro.
Hello Liz and Annie, I have been away sooo I am a bit behind on my messages. Thanks for the links and photos of your lovely Fabric Art Envelopes. Much appreciated. Hugs Judy
I have seen these quite a few times now both done by hand and also by machine embroidery. One lady said you could have one for an exchange of something that you had done. I haven't seen it now for a while, but I will try to keep it in my mind so that if I ever see it again I will let you know where. I can't imagine sending them in the mail, but giving on a gift box or in a girt or even handing to someone in person would be appreciated I'm sure.
