I love the things that can be done with herringbone, Lazy Daisy & Buttonhole variations. Exploring more with Chain stitch because it travels nicely...and have always liked backstitching for that too. For Silk Ribbon ... French Knot roses and LD Bullion Tips.
Well, I would have to say that satin stitch is my favourite and I totally love couching but while doing my February TIF I became totally addicted to whipped and woven wheels.

One stitch I didn't know before TAST is oyster stitch.
I fell in love with it and use it very often now.
I also like feather stitch and lazy daisy - actually everything with a floral look.
Hmmm, I guess my favorites would be feather, buttonhole + variations, lazy daisy, chain, herringbone, colonial knots (I like them better than french knots), etc. When I participated in the TAST challenge I discovered a few others that I really fell in love with like the oyster stitch. Also using silk ribbon with these stitches just adds such a wonderful dimension to embroidery. Would love to explore some of these stitches and others a whole lot more!
I seem to gravitate to the following, stem stitch, herring bone, fly stitch, feather stitch, chain stitch, bullions, french knots.....I would really like to brave a few others, like the oyster stitch which I have tried but sadly I never seem to get it right, I don't know if it is because I am left handed.....
Leslie, I'm right handed but I had problems too, doing it how I saw it in Sharons instructions. I remember that I thought this must be made for left-handers because it was awkward for me.
I changed the direction and this works better for me.
Actually I only make step one in a different way. What you see in the second photo I do the same way.
Maybe you should try it like I do it.
It also helps to pull the thread in a vertical direction and hold it with your thumb for the first step of the stitch.
I think my favourite stitch is knot. And since I've discovered A tales of two stitches by Beaney and Littlejohn, I would add Sorbello and lock stitches.
Even though I design in cross stitch, I tend to gravitate to stem, satin and french knots. Gee. The first three stitches my Grandmother taught me... Wonder if that has something to do with it?!
