Hand embroidered fleece baby blanket 5 Replies

I'm not sure how many of you have embroidered on fleece. I never had before, but I'm allergic to wool and wanted to make an adorable baby blanket that I found in the Australian magazine "Embroidery...

Hello to the stitching folks!
I was embroidering on fleece and found that it was quite simple. The fabric is so soft and nice to handle. I was doing free stitching, though, and not very much and not very tiny.

Hello, I am fairly new to this website & Group. Do you exchange pieces of work or set challenges ? Or just discuss techniques etc ?
Let me know how it works please.

Ann
There are several embroidery styles that involve filling in a motif with embroidery stitches: crewel work, blackwork, canvas work, Schwalm and pulled thread. And there are styles that involve large floral motifs made with specific stitches: Japanese and Brazilian embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery. Of course there is no reason why you would have to work in one of these specific styles, but they might give you ideas.

Some stitchinfingers members who are learning stitches have posted photos of their stitch samplers, and some of these show traditional stitches worked on curved or irregular lines, with the stitches changing scale from medium to large to small, all in the same line. And that would be one way to fill a shape.

What sort of object are you thinking of making and what sort of materials are you thinking of? Looking through the photos that members have posted might give you ideas also.

Hello, I am new to this group. I do a lot of crazy quilting. But when it comes to motifs of embroidery I am a complete Newbie, I know how to do most stitches filling a pattern is something I am not familiar with at all. Do you have any suggestions on how to get started on making motifs that are embroidered and filled in?

Dear friends,
This problem also occurred to me when I logged in through another computer to check the problem. Finally I found that the problem was in the widgets of another website I added. I immediately deleted them. Now I don't think there is any problem with the site. But still then, sorry for any inconvenience caused. If there is any other problem please inform me.

Thanks
Chamila

Barbara, you've run into a bad virus that my husband's employer warned us about. I don't know how or where you can find a fix for it but this is the advice we were given.

Don't click on any of the buttons on any of the windows, not even the little X you usually use to close a window. Instead, try one or both of these techniques:
•On the Task Bar at the bottom of your screen, right click on the offending program’s button, then click Close.
•Use Task Manager to close the malware window. (Ctrl Alt Del, T, Applications tab).

I just tried the website given by Chamila. It has a pop-up thing moving about on it, which i clicked to close. My pc then had several pages and windows come up saying it was full of viruses and other nasties, a scan started all on its own, and told me I must fix everything by letting the software run. I trust the anti-virus provider we have and did not want to use this other stuff. When i tried to close these windows they kept returning. Eventually they all gave up. i ran our own virus scan (MacAfee) and it found no problems.
My sincere apologies if 'Chamila' is a genuine member, but if things always go crazy like that on the link given i should give it a miss and look for Brazilian embroidery elsewhere!

I have the Ultra Punch and the Super Luxo needles. I think you will get the hang of it. You can also check your library to see if they have the Punchneedle DVD by Charlotte Dudney. I have it and I really like it. As a matter of fact I liked it so much I added it to my web store. See if your library can get you a copy....I think watching her and getting her tips will really help.
You are welcome :)
