Threadneedle Street in Issaquah, Washington, USA has a good supply of gold, silver and copper threads. You can check out their website and/or call them. http://www.threadneedlestreet.com/

First let me take a minute a define a couple of terms.

Metal Thread - Japanese Thread and Passing Threads have some metal content. As such you need to get these from specialty places - Benton and Johnson and Golden Threads in the UK are 2 such. Access Commodities purchases from these suppliers as well and some LNS carry them. One online source is Hedgehog Handworks.

There are faux Metal Threads from Kreinik and other sources. These lack metal thread content and will behave differently.

If you are doing Goldwork you will need threads with metal in them.

-- my 2 cents -- as someone who takes classes from the RSN and other goldwork teachers and teaches this technique

Rosalie, cannot find how to give you the information on supplies as your message is not here and there is no address on my email so if you would like to contact me on sandra26sandra@optusnet.com.au and let me know where you live I will give you some information and also email you a copy of my goldwork notes I use for teaching this techniques to my students and friends. I seem to remember doing a bit of this several years ago in an embroidery group I was in. Someone came in and taught it...and I still have my piece tucked away somewhere to inspire me to try it again. I'll follow along and hopefully pursue it during this summer.

How lucky you are to be able to do classes with not only Alison Cole but Jane Nicholas as well, Sandy. Grace

Sandy if you ever get the chance be sure to do a class with Avril de Haviland. Her gold work is exceptional and so light and different from the others. Sandra
