Have you ever done some stitching that seemed to be going great, then realised you had done it all wrong? A most frustrating experience, to put it mildly.
I have attached a picture of my hardanger piece, after I have started to fix my mistake. It shows one triangle still wrong, and one triangle all fixed.

What I did, was to stitch kloster blocks everywhere within the triangle, instead of just around the edge. Then cut away each tiny square, then found there was nowhere to do the needle-weaving. It was at that point I realised what I had done. Duh!
So I had to really carefully unpick all the kloster blocks, including the ones that were actually right, because I had stitched on the diagonal and not right around the edge first. Of course, then the cut ends were really unstable, and so re-stitching was a very gentle, time-consuming process. But it does seem to have worked.

Jocelyn,
I feel for you but it sounds as though you were able to make a great save on the project, which is always nice. I read back on your blog about your whitework sampler and I look forward to seeing your progress. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, poor girl.
Stitching Hardanger is always an adventure.

But it is such a nice projekt and I hope everything turns to the best. I think this fault comes never again.

I look forward to see the progress.

Have a nice day

Ooof, yes! I think we've all been down this road. I remember getting loads of the surface work done on a cushion/pillow cover I was doing, only to realise at one point that things just weren't lining up properly at all! The more I investigated, the more I realised I'd gaffed and I ended up having to frog it to within an inch of it's life! Thankfully, I hadn't started cutting at that point, but it was a good year before I picked it up again and got back on with it!

Have just got a great kit in the post today which I'll be working up over the next fortnight, so look out for updates on my blog, if you're interested.=) You can also see the saga with the cushion that went wrong under November 2005, then again from about Feb 2007. Tee-hee!!
Careful with those scissors!

I thought of you and this thread once I realized the huge mistake I made with a pair of scissors last week on a new piece I was practicing on :) I was using up a very old piece of fabric and the thread count was not covering very well so it's no great loss and I will try again.

But blogged here :)

I checked out your blog: your finished Hardanger piece looks really good. A good design and good work!
