Hi, just joined the group, I have been feltmaking for over 10 years, needlefelting for 7 years and using an embellisher for 2 years. I live in a suburb of Sydney, Australia and only recently joined Stitchin Fingers. Time I was pushed back out of my comfort zone and hope being here will help that process! :-)

HI all

I made soem wet fleting many years ago and was enthused eniough to buy some wool rovings. Did attempt it another time but didn't like what I had made.

but then lkast year when I wa shaving a playday with Annette jeukens and Laura Liebenberg in belgiumn they showed me a book by Irene van der Wolf called Image in Sight. I had doe a workshop with irene before called African fabric painintg ( and indeed this is where I met Laura) so liked where Irene was coming from and her atelier. So her book was an instant wow for me- she wet felts in the washing machine and I have now had a few goes at it- first one I liked, second one too, third one not ( colours not like I had envisaged) and fourth one I like a lot and will be hand stitching- I wet felted it onto dyed muslin. It is quick ad the only grind is laying out your wool. I know I need to experiment a lot more with it yet, but I am liking what is happening.

Hi,
I have been felting (wet felting) for over 5 years and needlefelting for about 4 years. I have just moved here from New Zealand and when I can get into the container that has all my merino and corriedale sliver (you call it roving in the US) in it, as well as less important things like our furniture, I will feel much happier. I have only just joined stitchinfingers and am still trying to work out how to get around the site and the groups. When I am more familiar with the whole process, I will download some images... I am hoping that this group will be a lot of fun!

I've just joined the group. I would like to have a few challenges, something that would push me forward to actually make the felt and use the felting process. I'm a newbie to the process, never done it, have the books but haven't taken the time.

I also enjoy cardmaking, but not using commercial toppers, so I use felt with some embellishing ie embroidery and beads and insert it into aperture cards. Again each one is unique and I would find it difficult to reproduce an exact copy. Will finish now to get idead from Gardeners` World.

I have uploaded 2 photos of felt hangings that I have taken from the Beginners Guide to Feltmaking by Ascher & Bateman. I made the base felt on a large plastic tray which confined the water and the flower felt was made as prefelt on a saucer. This book is colourful and informative and inspiring! Sheila

Your little felt bag isn't funny-looking (maybe the funny part is the story in the making of it?).

I bet in person it's a bag that will get many many compliments, and inspire other people to want to try to make something as nice.... or to ask YOU to make them something as nice "just for them".

Thank You for sharing the link. I'd like to hear more about those wool-bats

I was making an archive of fave posts at my blog today, and re-found this beautiful you-tube video.
It shows a Mongolian (big) felt-making process; from sheep-shearing thru horse-walking the roll, to yurt building.

In another post, I've links to two short vids of Scottish women singing together as they 'waulk' the tweed - in 1939 and 1945. So beautiful. xxx
