It is a warm 90 degrees here in southern Pennsylvanis with no breeze at all. But we have about 100 oak trees in our yard, so at least it is shady. My husband bought us his and her hand clippers . Is he romantic or what? So we wander around the yard clipping bushes together with our 8 pound Poodle supervising. We actually find it very relaxing. Guess that's what retirement is all about. Then we'll have some cold cuts for supper, and I'll sew while we watch a little tv. That's it, but it works for us.

Sounds like a beautiful day Algecira, it's lovely to just sit and choose what to do sometimes and your choices of the garden, sewing and chatting with your loved ones is wonderful........xxx

90 degrees....wow that's warm....do you get the humidity too Melody or is it a dry heat? I love the bit about the poodle supervising you !! and tell me, 100 oak trees means lots of land?  It must be lovely shade under those gorgeous trees. My husband bought me some garden tools once for my birthday years ago and when I opened them expecting something romantic and personal, the surprise on my face gave me away......he looked at me and said "I thought they'd help you with all your yard work"......and he was serious !!!!

Yes, I'm still married to him (he's really a wonderful man) but he never bought me tools again!!!

Glad to know you're having a great day.....as you say, what works in retirement is a blessing...it's nice to do things together.xx

Fortunately, it was not humid today although those days are coming very soon, I'm sure. We just have two acres of land which is not much for our area. There are quite a few farms in the area, and we have Amish families in the area too. I'm not always wild about working in the yard because there is lots of poison ivy growing on the trees. I catch it easily and go crazy with itching, while Tom rarely gets it, and it hardly bothers him at all. But we like to have some outdoor activity together, for the dog's sake too. Sounds like lots of you had nice Sundays. You all take care, Melody

OK guys I'm here

I'm fine and I have been busy with farm and family

We seem to have collected two more children thankfully I didn't need to deliver my 2 new sons of 21 & 28yrs.

My husband met them while fishing about 18 hours west of here in south australia Yalata lands...they thought they would come visit a play football here with Ed, so Stefan and Dougie are living with us at the moment (trying to sort them a house in town)...they both now have jobs and call me mummsy and drive their sisters silly...So the farm, my health our daughters health etc have all sent the place crazy.....

I had a very different sunday to you guys....It was the last day of our Kelpie Muster in Casterton

I was up at 5am to go to town and supervise, organise the catering.....fed about 2000 people and took $7800.00 thats allot of meat, bread, soup, salads , chips and hot donuts.....It was very busy... I had 30 people working for me and we finally finished at about 8 o'clock that night, mon was spent packing up all the gear

and again yesterday...  It was a working (farm) dog Auction our highest priced dog was $12,000

$170.000 worth of dogs sold........has been a busy couple of months organising it all

have a look at www.kelpies-casterton.org

thanks for the lovely thoughts about the card

I will hopefully be back soon Cheers Shazz

Wow Shazz, that's unbelievable. I was brought up in a small town in central Vic (Lancefield) and we used to have sheep dog trials in the local park. Mr Cusack had sheep dogs, he used to breed and sell them and we'd go and watch the trials......the dogs are fantastic to watch. I also used to know people from Casterton (surname Steff) and another family....can't remember her maiden name though.....she married a Steff. Did you sell or buy any dogs?

Two new boys eh........well at least you missed all the teenage angst!!!!

Country women are the life and soul of country towns.....I can't remember how many committees I was on, but between schools, footy clubs, netball clubs etc, winter was always busy. So, well done to you & your workers.

cheers Teresa

Hi Sharon, don't know what happend to my last reply, lappie does funny things, I  went to the Kelpie website, now why did I think Kelpies looked like rough collies? thats what they look like in dear old south Africa.!. Big mistake. I love those big coats the guys wear, will come in handy in our wet season, of course I surfed till three in the morning to get all the info on those dogs. Dont know what I will do with this " useless" information down in  the RSA , but loved  it. Thats what makes  stitchin fingers so wonderfull, the world just opens up. Happy stitchin. Helen

Glad someone mentioned that there are 4 for August because my calendar only had two.  Looking through some paperwork I did find the other two.  So, I plan to mail all four sometime this week.

Yes Kim, after our big break we're right back into it. I feel as if I've neglected my postcard friends, I kept checking to make sure I hadn't missed any.....duh !! So, I too will be posting soon.

I think I wrote my last note in the wrong spot, but I did mail out my four birthday cards to our swap friends. I was surprised that each card cost the same amount - $1.05. I figured that the further away the card had to travel, the more it would cost. But that was not the case. My birthday is in Sept., then there's one in Oct., and three in Nov. So I'd better get started on the next batch. It's fun thinking up what to do next! Best to all, Melody
