You know you're a geek when Elizabethan embroidery patterns make your pulse race!

For anyone interested in Thomas Trevelyon's 1608 Miscellany, Folger Shakespeare museum has made it available online.  Embroidery patterns seem to start on page 7.  The link:

Beautiful!!  Thank you!!

This is an excellent resource, Kimberly. Thanks for posting it. Lots of "food for inspiration" here...

WOW! How beautiful. Has anyone stitched a sample from this source? I just love this stuff.

Hi Tania,

Yes, I've stitched a piece inspired by one of the Trevelyon panels.  I modified a detail from one of his holly designs to create a miniature purse.  Here's the link to my piece.....

Fabulous! What an inspiration! I would love to stitch one of the designs from Trevelyon's panels. Something to noodle over.....

Oh, I am really going to enjoy exploring this book! Thank you, Kimberley. I'm currently doing a piece based on a woodcut from an emblem book (not stitched particularly 'historically' - just chain stitch, silk on linen), and can see some of the figures and flowers on these pages calling out to me to hurry up and finish it so I can choose one of them as inspiration for my next surface embroidery project.

You're welcome.  You might also want to check out the Christmas ornament I designed based on one of the Trevelyon patterns.  It's on the cover of the Winter issue of Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly: http://www.sanqmagazine.com
