I have been collecting things for my crazy quilt but some of it looks a little dingy. I was wondering if anybody has any tricks for cleaning . I know that bleach is a no no.

waouh, this is a great question. It is hard to get a clean thing if it have some old dirty spots. I'm sorry but I can't give you any real help for that. So sorry.

I use mild laundry (Borax, it is powder) soap, depending on the size of the item but since you are putting them on crazy quilts I am guessing they are small pieces, I soak them in that and then rinse them with warm water and lay them flat on a table or something outside in the shade (sun will fade them more) and let them dry. VOILA, clean and they SMELL WONDERFUL too. :) I am sure you will get lots of suggestions that will work, but this is what I do with big quilts too, I do them in the bathtub but smaller pieces you can do in a bucket or your kitchen sink. You will be amazed at the crud that comes off them. :) GOOD LUCK. ( if there are spots on them, CAREFULLY put a little liquid dish or laundry soap on the spot and scrub gently)

I use hydrogen peroxide straight out go the bottle for small areas, and oxyclean for larger areas. I have never tried Borax because it's a pretty nasty chemical and I have concerns about breathing it.
