Minor detail Kalona :-)  Get your beading needles ready!!!

Phew... I got my acknowledgement from them too.

Beading needles aghhh, cant find them, I'm off for another shopping spree haha.

I got an invite too. I'm not sure what is expected.

Does anyone know how this works? and what I will need?

I'm guess I'm pretty new to this group thing.

Janie

:)

I am new to this too. What I've picked up from reading through some of the previous years' posts and talking to some people who were in some of the previous BJPs, the idea is to challenge yourself to make one beaded project each month for a year. The challenge suggests that you pick one size and shape to re-interpret monthly -- for example, you might choose to make a 2-inch entirely beaded heart, or you might choose to make a crazy quilt fabric ATC with beaded embellishments, or you might make your Barbie a beadwork gown each month, or you might go all-out and make a beaded birdhouse every month. The size and the shape is up to you, and I think that they can either be fully beaded or only partially beaded. Only you know what level your skill is at, so only you can truly decide what would be an appropriate challenge. It's good to have your challenge stretch you a little, or to have your challenge be structured in a way that allows you to challenge yourself some months and rest on others.. but you don't want your challenge to be so ambitious that you get frustrated or fall behind so badly that you want to give up.

I am making small beaded circular motifs that will be eye-spots for my CQJP peacock's tail. :) My current profile pic is one of my tester pieces, partially finished.

Janie, I'm also new to this sort of on-line project.  There is a tab at the top of the link Carol sent and it will lead to the specifics.  My understanding is exactly as Tahlia stated...you choose the size and shape and it must have 'some' beads.  You are to use the same size and shape each month.

If you are asking what the next step is, once you receive your invitation you simply click on the link and that will take you to the Blogger Dashboard.  If you do not have a blog and are not familiar with Blogger, you will need to click on the link Carol provided to learn how to set it up etc.  From the Dashboard you will be able to post your monthly images and maybe a brief explanation of each.  At least that is what I am expecting to do.  I was planning to watch to see what the 'experienced' participants do and then follow their lead.

We can use this Discussion area to ask each other questions, offer encouragement, share links to our latest project images, or whatever comes up over the course of the year.  We'll just have our own little mini BJP group!  Anyone, feel free to jump in.

 Hi All,

By looking at previous years I think Connie's pretty much summed it up... choose theme/size, make work and post pics each month on the blog.

I'm still in the "erm" stage at the mo!! I do inchies in other materials so could carry on there, but I also do alot of felting so might go down that route- actually that's just confirmed it for me...12 pieces, 12 months, let's be orgiginal and do a calendar, star signs etc. Maybe include some wiccan holidays and festivals...think I've cracked it, thanks gals!!

Now to design it out to see what will be beaded....

So I have Tahlia, Cy, Janie S., Kalona, Susan Shufelt, Emily, Lorraine and myself - right?  Gina and Susan Cuss, are you doing the BJP 2012?  Did I miss anyone?  8-10 of us will be a fun number!  Of course anyone else is more than welcome to join us.

Now, is there a way to add photos to a discussion or should we just post links to where our images are?

Photos can be added from the text box that you type in here (where it says "Reply to Discussion"). Second icon on the header bar of this typing box has a button to add an image from your computer.

It would be nice to be able to see the pics here, and we can also add a link to our blog site too, so we can expand on the project there if we wish.
