Gosh Jenny, it is a while since I added my profile pic and the memory is a bit hazy! On My Page under my avatar there is a 'change photo' link. Perhaps you have an 'Add Photo' below your pic on your page.

If not you need to edit your Ning profile, there is a tab for photo there that helps you to upload and crop a pic, if I remember correctly.

Hi Jenny G i really would love to do a piece of crazy patchwork but i have never had a go. I am looking for scraps of fabric that i can put together. I will have to look up in one of the many books on how to make a crazy patchwork piece. But to get going i have paninted up a few bits of fabric that i can use to make journals with so i will use them to start with. I am eager to get started on something. I am sure this could be great fun. I am not bothered about putting my photos up on Flickr.

Hi Carol-Ane, Thank you for your comments and I have checked out your suggested sites and feel better. I think I might try the crazy patch idea as I have been wanting to do a piece for some time but not getting to it. How about you, Chris? Now I have to figure how to get a picture into my profile......

Hi Jenny, All you need to to prepare is select some fabric and some threads. TAST is really simple to join in, when the stitch is announced on Tuesday you just stitch whatever you like.

To give you some examples; some people just used it on their current project, this was a popular approach with crazy quilters who did one or more seam treatment based on the weeks stitch; others had a doodle cloth or sampler to which they kept adding the weekly stitches, just learning and practicing them; others made small samplers for each stitch or stitch family and some really explored the stitch thoroughly.

You just do what suits your time frame, abilities and interest.

For inspiration take a look at some of the pictures in the current TAST flickr pool or the original pool.

The main thing is to have some fun stitching :-)

HI Jenny G I feel the same way as you do i am not sure how this works in being prepared for TAST. I have painted up some fabric this morning ready to use. I have done a fair bit of embroidery myself but not a great deal on different stitches, i was taught at college that you should master a handful which is fine but not a great deal of fun. Chris

Hi,
I too am new to TAST. I have been poking around the website, but I need some advice on how to get prepared for TAST, and how exactly things work. I'm not a total ditz, but I am a bit lost about how to begin. By the way I have done a fair bit of simple embroidery.

Hi You must think me really stupid here but i followed your links to Flickr and i am a yahoo group owner i have an account with yahoo and it said i was accepted but you say you have to approve membership. So I am a little confused but it takes a small thing these days to confuse me.

OK...I actually did one stitch out of order. I just don't get the Palstrina stitch at all. I'm skipping it for now and hope that there is a better explanation in one of the stitch books I recently ordered and will have in May. In case you are wondering...I'm doing TAST on an "independent study" basis...I started with week one on the first Tuesday of the year.

I've been so busy reading each Discussion, to catch up on my stitches, that I haven't looked at this comment Wall for a while. Sue, I love the idea of doing samples of each stitch on an ATC size piece - I've seen several like that, and they look lovely. What a great reference too.
Joy, I haven't gone as formal as a band sampler; my stitches are just in rows (untidy rows!) on large pieces of white Aida. I wanted something that I could look back on to see my mistakes and where I went wrong before I finally figured out how do to the stitch in question. I think Sharon B. calls them 'doodle cloths' because it is like doodling on a piece of paper. So mine is a bit messy, but I have referred to it constantly when I'm using a new (to me) stitch on CQ blocks, fabric postcards or ATCs.

I'm making mine atc size so they can be passed round as stitch samples when needed in any classes
